1er photo : Cette immense porte est aujourd’hui le symbole d’Auschwitz, pourtant il faut savoir que la plupart des Juifs qui débarquaient ici n’apercevaient pas cette entrée car dès leur arrivée, ils étaient pour la plupart directement exterminés.

The first thing that Jewish people saw at their arrival in the camp was the majestic gate standing for the so-called “superiority” of the German people. Prisoners went through this gate by the train and they were forced to get down as quickly as possible. They were directly exterminated.

2ème photo : La « Judenramp » était le lieu de débarquement des Juifs. Ce lieu était situé en dehors du camp, les Juifs devaient donc effectuer le chemin à pieds. Ici, vous pouvez voir l’exemple typique du wagon pouvant contenir 40 hommes ou 8 chevaux.

The « Judenramp » was the place where Jews landed / arrived. This place was situated outside of the camp, the Jews needed to make the trip on foot. Here, you can see the perfect example of the wagon which could hold 40 men or 8 horses.

3ème photo : Le camp d’Auschwitz II était un camp d’extermination et de concentration. Ce qui peut expliquer sa surprenante superficie. On peut d’ailleurs souligner le contraste entre l’immense superficie du camp de concentration et la petitesse du camp d’extermination.

This extermination camp is surprising by his infinite surface. The goal was to hide the gas chambers to not create panic to the new arrivals. Moreover, the elderly rudimentary shelter of workers (today destroyed), meant an important surface of the camp.

4ème photo : Cette photo nous montre la grandeur du camp. Les Juifs rejoignaient les chambres à gaz par ce chemin. Ils traversaient le camp et voyaient les prisonniers derrière les barbelés, sans se soucier de la mort.

This picture shows us the immensity of the camp. The Jews joined the gas chamber by this way. They crossed the camp and saw all the prisoners behind the barbed wire, without thinking about death.

Auschwitz 036

5ème photo : Cette photo représente les ruines des chambres à gaz. Les chambres à gaz prenaient l'apparence anodine de salles de douches pouvant contenir simultanément jusqu'à 3 000 personnes. Ces chambres ont tué plus d’un million de Juifs venant de toute l’Europe. Mais celles-ci furent détruites par les Nazis pour éliminer toutes preuves de leur génocide.

This picture shows us ruins of a gas chamber. The gas chamber had the harmless appearance of shower rooms which could contain up to 3000 people. This chamber killed more than one million Jews coming from all over the world.
